Privacy Policy

Effective 2026-01-15

This policy explains what information Chokidar collects, why we collect it, how we use it, and what choices you have. We aim for plain language; if anything here is unclear, email [email protected].

1. Data we collect

We collect three categories of data:

  • Account data — email, name, organization, billing details (via Stripe).
  • Telemetry you send us — probe results, metrics, logs, events that your agents or workers report. This data belongs to you.
  • Usage data — IP address, browser type, pages visited, feature usage, in support of debugging and product improvement.

2. How we use it

To operate the service, secure it, bill you, support you, and improve it. We do not sell your data. We do not train external AI models on your telemetry.

3. Subprocessors

We use a short list of vendors to run Chokidar:

  • AWS / Hetzner — infrastructure hosting (EU + US regions).
  • Stripe — billing and payment processing.
  • Postmark — transactional email.
  • Cloudflare — CDN and DDoS protection.
  • Sentry — application error tracking (no telemetry payloads).

A current list is maintained at chokidar.bd/subprocessors and we will notify you of changes.

4. Retention

Your telemetry is retained according to your plan's retention policy and is deleted within 30 days of subscription end unless you ask for export. Account data is retained for the life of the account plus any legally required period.

5. Your rights

If you are in the EEA, UK, or California you have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. Email [email protected] and we will respond within 30 days.

6. Security

We encrypt data in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256-GCM). Access to production is limited to on-call engineers using short-lived credentials with audit logging. See our security page for details.
